Antique Victorian 9ct gold brooch featuring three red garnet stones alongside four tiny seed pearls. This beautiful brooch has ornate flourishes set onto a bar, with a gold security chain. On the back of the brooch it is hallmarks '9ct Gold'.
Garnets were used extensively in all different designs of Victorian jewellery, bracelets, rings, brooches and elaborate necklaces, they represent the birthstone of January and symbolise trust and friendship. Additionally pearls had multiple meanings, primarily they were associated with 'beauty'.
