This genuine French antique Victorian Dragonfly brooch is set with lovely Paste stones set in Sterling Silver.
The eyes are set with lovely Ruby colour Pastes, with bright white Pastes all over the body and wings.
The back is set in Gold.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones because it has relatively high indices of refraction and strong dispersion, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass pastes.
Insect brooches are highly collectable and sought after worldwide.
Steeped in English history, purchased in London.
The brooch has the original pin and C catch on the reverse.
